One of the most important things you learn growing up in church is the ability to understand code words.  Sure, you have your biggies like “salvation” and “rededication” and “santification”.  But there are many, many more code words.

At a number of the churches I attended when I was younger, we had weekly scheduled times where the church would come together.  

On Sundays, we had our “Worship Service” which consisted of a time of corporate worship, some announcements, and some preaching with seperate ministries for kids. On Wednesdays, we had either a “Prayer Service” or “Bible Study” which consisted of a time of corporate worship, some announcements, and some preaching with seperate ministries for kids.

Wait, what?

I never really understood why we used different code words to describe two things that were exactly the same except for the day of the week on which they were held.

At Vivid Church, we have three regular gatherings as a church.  Every time we come together we do so with a specifc purpose in mind.  This allows us to gather with a unity of heart and mind.  These gatherings are:

Community Group - These are intimate gatherings of 10-15 people focused on life application, fellowship, and mutual support.  These groups are the foundation of everything we do as Vivid Church.  

Bible Study - Uh… this is where we uhh… study the Bible.  No band.  No show.  Just a great time to share a cup of coffee with friends and dig into the Word.  Our Sunday AM gathering is dedicated to  providing wisdom for living.  It’s more like Sunday School than a traditional Sunday church service.  In the future, we will offer multiple topics during Bible Study so you can choose the class that best suits you.

Worship Celebration - This is our no-holds-barred time dedicated to pursuing God in corporate worship and prayer.  We believe that worship is an important part of the life of a community of faith.  It should not breezed through  or merely serve as the warm up act for the Word.  It is a time of consecration intended to draw near to the heart of God.
